The Big Dylan Day Concert – “I’m Only going to Pay the Bills”

International Dylan Thomas Day, is a truly international event.

The star studded lineup is led by the Dunvant Male Choir and Society member Adrian Metcalfe of the Lighthouse Theatre Company. Joining them for the first time will be actors from the Dylan Thomas Theatre Youth Group to help tell the story of Dylan’s rise from a child brought up in the Uplands to his fateful trips to America at the end of his life.

Christine Byrne is an American mezzo soprano who is making a name for herself in the world of opera and musical theatre. She is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under Donald Maxwell and will bring a distinctly New York touch to musicals of the day.

Rafa Bocero is a Spanish guitarist and singer who has performed all over the world and specialises in translating classical poems such as Yeats’ The Fiddler of Dooney’ and many Bob Dylan songs. He is in Wales and will perform for the first time in public his adaptation of Dylan’s Do Not Go Gentle.
